    Description

Here is a rare Marblehead Pottery decorated coupe shaped vase with a repeating medallion design of circles in matte blue, green gray, and copper lustre against a semi matte red ground, a very unusual glaze color for the pottery. The interior is a greenish clear showing through to the gray clay.  The pottery was founded in Massachusetts by Dr Herbert Hall, run by Arthur Baggs, and dates to about 1915.   It measures 3 3/4 inches in diameter and 3 3/4 inches high.  It is in good condition with only an invisible small chip restoration at the rim, see picture 3, and no cracks or firing flaws.  Marked on the bottom under the glaze with the die stamped MP and ship mark.  A different piece of New England Arts & Crafts art pottery.  If you have any questions please click on our username or visit our store page and feel free to email through the gallery or call Jim Messineo at JMW Gallery.
